The most fun I've had with a Linux server came after discovering Asterisk, this is an open source TCP/IP based telephone system. You can now truly make your own telephone exchange for your family, company or your country even. When telephones go open source, there are 1001 things you can do with them and more. I used a flavour of Asterisk called FreePBX which is community run and done in the highest spirit of open source. We host it on a dedicated server and use it to run our Kalk Bay phone system. So next time you call and hear "Hi this is Kalk Bay Interactive..." you can rest assured your call is being routed not to Telkom but to an open source private telphone system that I feel will slowly revolutionise the world of Telecom voice and video.
>> Linux + open source = Revolution !
